CHINESE WARRING STATES
ARMY AND UNIT STANDARDS
A large variety of flags were used during the Warring States period, both for signalling and
to raise morale.
Army Divisions and Commanders were distinguished by Flags, and each unit was identified
by smaller flags of different colours.

During the Warring States period it was believed that the Army was divided into 5 Divisions.
The Divisions were represented by a system of Flags.

VANGUARD Red Bird
REARGUARD Black Tortoise

I'm not sure how these were represented, but rather than images it has been suggested that
the animal would be represented by Chinese calligraphy.
