PAINTING YOUR RESIN BUILDINGS

I have had several requests since I have stopped providing the buildings painted.

for colour references.

STEP 1

The first and most important step, is to wash your resin model in warm soapy water.

Even though our models come lightly primed with a grey spray primer

it is still important to wash the models. This removes any dirt and

dust that has accumulated in the detailed areas.

STEP 2

Prime your model with a primer of your choice.

I prefer to prime my models with black paint. I usually water down the

black paint so it does not clog-up the detail.

I'm a big fan of the Kevin Dallimore, 3 'blobs' painting technique

Building up the colours from dark to light.

For further information on this technique, there are specific books published

available through Wargames Foundry.

I tend to use the excellent Vallejo paints, and all colour references are for

this make unless specified otherwise.

after painting black I will use a base colour of

 921 English Uniform

to paint any straw, and some timber areas.

Since we have started the thatched roof we will continue

with the mid colour

I dry brush over the thatch area with a more straw/yellow colour

927 Dark Flesh

Finally I highlight with

837  Sand

and also add a wash of purple as shadow, along the joins of the thatch

which helps create depth.

Meanwhile back to the house

using a combination of 3 basic colours, I scrub them into the general plaster wall

areas, and even mix them together to give a stucco textured effect.

819 Iraqui sand

987 Medium grey

874 US tan earth

I also use the tan earth and some other browns to vary the colours on the wood sections.

I also use the 874 to paint the earth base.

Still using the 3 colours from the previous step, I now add

70951  white

837 sand

and basically dry brush a lighter layer of paint over the stucco areas.

It is sometimes nice to use a different highlight to give some colour

variation.

Also I like to leave the parts near the base darker, as if they are a damp area.

Whilst I am painting the roof, I will also use the same colour to dry brush the bamboo blinds.

The only non vallejo paint I use, is an old Ral Partha colour

Paladin Blue

This is basically a blue/black, and I use it to paint the wooden frame of the buildings.

and finally everything is shaped and tidied up with black lining.

any further questions ,please feel free to drop me a line

and I will try and help.

Next I will try and display some of the Japanese calligraphy, and Mon details

that various people have sent me, and which I can share with you.
